Tree Root Carbon Calculator

Better decisions for trees, property and the environment.  The Tree Root Carbon Calculator compares the estimated carbon impact of tree removal, underpinning, root barriers and resin injection, to allow sustainability to be brought into tree-related subsidence decisions from the outset.

Supporting more sustainable claims decisions

Compare the estimated carbon impact of different solutions to tree-related subsidence, alongside the legal, technical and practical considerations affecting each claim. The Tree Law Carbon Calculator helps insurers, claims professionals and property stakeholders bring carbon into the decision-making process at an early stage.

Compare

Tree removal, underpinning, root barrier installation, and resin injection with the carbon value of retaining or removing the tree as the comparison

Impact

Using claim-specific information, the calculator gives a clear comparison of the estimated carbon impact of each option.

More than a calculation

The lowest carbon figure will not always be the right outcome. Legal, technical and practical considerations still matter.

Why

Subsidence remediation can be carbon intensive, while tree removal can mean loss of future carbon storage and wider environmental benefits.

Frequently asked questions

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Tree Law carry out the calculation based on the information that you have obtained on the claim and share with us.

We need to see the tree report, engineering reports, information about the extent of the damage and any scope of works obtained in relation to alternative remedial solutions.

That’s really up to do.  We can provide just the carbon footprint numbers or provide you will a full report reflecting on the calculation and making a recommendation to you.

The data sources behind the calculator are free-source carbon foot printing data, for example UK DEFRA Emissions factors
