Laura Lloyd is a Senior Associate at Tree Law, specialising in complex disputes where trees, property and liability intersect.
Laura joined Tree Law in July 2024, bringing with her a strong background in civil litigation and property law. She began her legal career at Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP, a large global law firm, where she gained early experience acting on behalf of insurers in subrogated recovery claims. This work included claims arising from property damage, including subsidence and damage caused by tree root ingress, giving Laura valuable early exposure to the technical and evidential issues that often arise in tree-related property disputes.
This experience provided Laura with a strong foundation in insurance litigation and complex liability issues, as well as an understanding of the interaction between legal, engineering and arboricultural evidence in these cases.
Laura now advises a wide range of clients including insurers, local authorities, property owners and businesses on disputes involving trees and the built environment. Her work frequently involves claims arising from tree root subsidence, damage caused by fallen trees or branches, and issues relating to Tree Preservation Orders and regulatory compliance.
She is particularly skilled at guiding clients through technically complex matters that require coordination between legal, arboricultural and engineering expertise. Laura works closely with experts and stakeholders to ensure that cases are handled efficiently while achieving practical and commercially sensible outcomes for clients.
Laura is known for her pragmatic approach and her ability to translate complex legal and technical issues into clear, strategic advice. She supports clients at every stage of the dispute process, from early risk assessment and liability analysis through to negotiation, resolution and, where necessary, litigation.
At Tree Law, Laura plays an important role in helping the firm deliver specialist legal advice in a rapidly evolving area of law, where environmental considerations, property rights and infrastructure risk increasingly intersect.
Outside of work, Laura lives in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park with her family and enjoys spending time outdoors walking, running and exploring the countryside.
